employees in my company (including myself) made a pledge that we would follow through with an internal environmental initiative “Red at Heart. Green in Action”, which was recently announced at our annual dinner. i'm very happy to see that we've taken the first few steps in implementing this initiative and living our promise in becoming a greener, more environmentally-friendly company.
starting today:
- recycling bins will be placed in every discipline and department (paper, plastic and metal);
- office lighting will been replaced with energy-saving lightbulbs;
- office air-conditioner temperature will be set at 24°C - 25°C (in line with the Government recommendation of 25.5 ° C);
- paper cups will no longer be made available at water machines;
- to add a pleasant sense of outdoor greenery to our working environment, all employees will be given a small potted plant.
if your employers are not doing the same. you should ask why not? yes! it does take a little effort, but our collective action can help the environment, most importantly, save money for the company in the long run.
